Elden Ring Sells 20 Million Copies in Less Than a Year, Beats Dark Souls Trilogy’s First-Year Sales

The developers of the game Elden Ring’s most recent release have revealed that it has officially sold 20 million copies in under a year, which marks another significant achievement for the gaming powerhouse. The most successful video game of 2022 was undoubtedly Elden Ring, which was developed by the same team responsible for Dark Souls. It was a commercial and big success for Elden Ring.

The game ultimately mixes the pleasant heaviness of the Dark Souls fighting system with an open-world landscape Elden Ring is impossible not to compare to the Dark Souls games because they were the canvas that this game was painted; yet, “it’s a heck of a starting point.”

Bandai Namco has just stated that the video game in question has sold more than 20 million copies in fewer than 12 months, providing evidence of how fruitful the partnership between FromSoftware and the creator of Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin, has been.

Elden Ring reached 20 million copies sold

The announcement was made public through the official Elden Ring Twitter account, with the message being accompanied by the remark “our sincere gratitude for your support and companionship on this journey.”

On February 25, 2022, Elden Ring was made available for the first time. The game is a spiritual successor to the Dark Souls series, with the typical character builds, magic, and combat mixed with a massive open environment for players to spend hours getting lost. This allows the game to serve as a spiritual successor to the series.

In addition, in March of 2022, Bandai Namco announced that the Dark Souls series, comprised of three games, had sold a combined total of 33.4 million copies. Because of this, the sales numbers that Elden Ring has already been able to pull in just under a year indicate that it may even eclipse the entire Dark Souls trilogy during the next few years. This is because Elden Ring was released less than a year ago.

And despite the fact that it has been almost an entire year since the game was initially released, its popularity and hype have yet to die down. Recent rumors and conjectures regarding DLC have helped get the Elden Ring community off the ground and rolling.
