Cheating Epidemic Plagues Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play, Driving CDL Pros Away
After the introduction of Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 2 on February 15, CDL professionals have begun leaving the playlist due to the increased number of players who cheat. Players of Modern Warfare 2 had been waiting for the release of Ranked Play since the game’s first release; yet, less than a week after the mode’s release in Season 2, many players have decided to stop participating in Ranked Play altogether.
As a result of a tsunami of cheats that have invaded the ladder, even the finest players in the world are having second thoughts before queuing up for a match. Brandon “Dashy” Otell, who plays for OpTic Texas, and Ben “Beans” McMellon, who plays for Boston Breach, has been very outspoken.
Modern Warfare 2 CDL Pros are dissatisfied since hackers have ruined Ranked Play
At this time, Dashy belongs to a select group of current or past professionals who rank among the Top 250 players on the in-game leaderboard.
As of the time of writing this article, Dashy holds the 15th place on the leaderboard with 13,300 SR, and only the substitute player for Toronto Ultra, Eli “Standy” Bentz from LA Thieves, ranks higher than him. The current World Champion was Zack “Drazah” Jordan of LA Thieves. In a tweet dated February 19, he expressed his discontent with the method of operation. He said, “Ranked is rubbish, practically playing hackers in every single game.”
Tyler ‘FeLo’ Johnson, a new member of the Florida Mutineers, also had the same viewpoint. “I love ranked play and everything, but loading in against 99 awareness Tom Brady on every map is beginning to become insane,” he said. “I love ranked play and all.” McMellon recalled a time after a match when a player suspected of cheating approached him and asked to play together, presuming that the pro had to be dishonest due to his extraordinary skill.
He said this while also uploading a screenshot from within the game. “These hacker f***s have no remorse,” he continued. The developers working on Call of Duty have not yet acknowledged the problem, but we will update with the latest information if they take action to address it.
