Scalpers Demand Exorbitant Prices for Final Fantasy 16 Collector’s Edition Ahead of June Release
In anticipation of the game’s release on June 22, scalpers are demanding exorbitant amounts for the Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy 16. PlayStation broadcasted a special episode of State of Play devoted to Final Fantasy 16 on April 13. The presentation included a twenty-minute demonstration of the upcoming Square Enix game, which will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 in two months. Ambrosia was revealed to be the name of Clive Rosfield’s Chocobo in Final Fantasy 16 before the State of Play.
Fans can purchase Final Fantasy 16 in a variety of different editions, including the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and an exclusive Collector’s Edition that is only available on the Square Enix website. Customers who spend $349.99 are granted access to the entirety of the game as well as one-of-a-kind products such as a Metal Eikon Pin Collection and a fabric map of Valisthea. On the other hand, scalpers have sought far higher prices on eBay.
The Final Fantasy 16 Collector’s Edition is being resold on eBay by resellers for $900
According to a report by TheGamer, several retailers have listed the Final Fantasy 16 Collector’s Edition for sale at prices significantly higher than the recommended retail price. Due to the restricted supply, the prices on eBay range from approximately $500 to $700 on average. A single copy would cost a gamer back $900, over three times the average amount requested.
The Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy 16 is quite pricey. However, a Deluxe Edition is also available for purchase for the same price. This latter option comes with the main game, a Digital Mini Artbook, and a Digital Mini Soundtrack. In the meantime, the cost of the Standard Edition is $69.99.
In addition to revealing the State of Play. Final Fantasy 16 provided prospective players with their first peek at the setting of Valisthea. The region, situated in the middle of the Ash and Storm continents, derives its design cues from medieval Europe. The brief video followed Clive across several ecosystems of Valisthea, including jungles and deserts, and featured Valisthea’s breathtaking scenery.
At this point, it appears that Final Fantasy 16 will be Square Enix’s most significant release of 2023. On June 22, 2023, the much-anticipated Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
