Dignitas’ Struggles Continue: Rich to Replace Armut in LCS Summer Split

Dignitas began their 2023 competitive year in last place for the Spring Split despite spending a lot of money on acquiring strong native players and importing talent. Rich is reportedly taking Armut’s position to succeed in Summer. Dignitas is one of the oldest organizations in North America, having participated in professional League of Legends for more than ten years. However, they have yet to see strong outcomes from their persistence.

Dignitas made significant roster investments before the LCS 2023 Spring split, which raised expectations for their squad but ultimately led to a last-place finish. Irfan ‘Armut’ Tükek, one of their most anticipated players coming into the season, has reportedly been traded out for Lee ‘Rich’ Jae-won.

According to rumors, Rich will replace Armut on Dignitas

Some questioned if Armut would be able to function as Dignitas’ top lane pickup after MAD’s lackluster performance in 2022. The fact that DIG struggled throughout the entire split justified the mistrust.

It might be challenging to identify which individuals being traded out could eventually improve a roster in the long run when a team loses so frequently. Spawn being replaced by Tomo in the late Spring helped, but DIG still had many problems. Not to mention, Armut said that he felt down for most of the split because of what was occurring in his native Turkey and the fact that they were losing most of their LCS games.

Additionally, they discussed how Dignitas felt as though they had forgotten how to win after losing so many games in a row. It was obvious that adjustments needed to be made if DIG wanted a chance to compete with the best teams. Armut is expected to be replaced by Rich, a top laner whose performance on V5 in 2022 was very hit-or-miss, according to a report from blix.gg. Rich doesn’t have a reputation for having good laning or a lot of solos kills against his opponents, but his team fighting skills make up for these shortcomings.

This is appropriate given Rich’s history as one of the top professionals during Heroes of the Storm’s brief esports run when he won two global championships before switching to League of Legends. Teamfighting and rotations were heavily emphasized in Heroes of the Storm, a skill that Rich has introduced to the Rift.

Armut was a player who often needed a lot of attention from his jungler because of his aggressive, trade-heavy playstyle. The team fight concentration and safe laning of Rich may be just what Dignitas needs to reverse their fortune.
