Safeguarding Gameplay Experience: Advocating for Skin Hiding Feature to Combat Trolling in Valorant

To fight trolls, devoted players are urging the Riot devs to include a feature that would let users hide their skins from other players. Since the introduction of Valorant in June 2020, hundreds of weapon skins have been released, allowing players to give their armory some personality.

It’s safe to assume that many gamers have missed out on some eye-catching cosmetics because there was only a short window to purchase the skins in the featured in-game shop. Even if you can still look in the daily shop, you can see the desired skin on another player. Most of the time, teammates will gladly give up their skin for you. To get skin, players occasionally go a little too far in their harassment of their colleagues.

To fight trolls, brave players seek a “hide skins” tool

Valorant gamer ‘Hyrul’ requested that the developers implement a feature to let you hide weapon skins from teammates in a Reddit thread on June 30. He said that players had been constantly following them to use their skin. They wrote, “So often do people follow me around just for my skin.” “People merely desire Vandal’s championship. I am not sprinting straight for skin without peaking. My body is being blocked until I let go.

“It’s getting to the point where it makes it harder for me to play, but if I could hide my skins from other players, things would go much better,” they continued. Since it doesn’t inspire me to buy anything nice, I don’t think it’s in Riot’s best interest to leave things like that.

Although many people thought the concept was sound in theory, others said that it was doubtful Riot would ever implement such a feature. For this reason alone, it’s probably never going to happen. When you wear a skin, you essentially serve as an ambassador for Riot. According to one, riot will make extra money if players purchase skins after seeing yours or using it. I overheard two players in one game declare they intended to get the Neo Frontier skin after using mine. Another person wrote, “Seeing other people’s skins is very pleasant. Imagine enabling this option and only seeing default skins constantly; that would get boring quickly. Players have been fearless in providing suggestions they believe will make the game better throughout the years. Nevertheless, we’ll simply have to wait to see if Riot adopts the concept.
