TSM Fans Urge Organization to Stick with Insanity over Ruby for LCS Summer Split

TSM supporters have urged the organization to keep Insanity for the duration of LCS Summer instead of Ruby. After losing against Dignitas on June 29, TSM’s LCS Summer Split record fell to 3-5. This was the team’s second straight loss after starting Lee ‘Ruby’ Sol-min. The Korean mid-laner, acquired from Heretics in the off-season, was late for the first two weeks of play due to visa complications. David ‘Insanity’ Challe, TSM’s first North American mid-laner since Andy ‘Reginald’ Dinh, took his place on the roster.

TSM performed better than expected over the first two weeks of the split, going 3-3 with victories over FlyQuest, Immortals, and NRG and defeats to Team Liquid, Cloud9, and Golden Guardians. Many supporters have urged TSM to reverse its choice to start Ruby, claiming that the team has appeared worse with the Korean player in the lineup as the team has dropped to sixth in the standings following the back-to-back losses.

On TSM’s official subreddit, a user remarked, “The team plays worse without Insanity, so it’s time to get him back in.” Please refrain from using the illogical sunk cost fallacy or stubbornness to make Ruby work. I’m grateful. Another user commented, “Team fighting looks much worse with Ruby.” It was difficult to see, so please bring back Insanity and let Ruby practice more with the team, a supporter tweeted.

Ruby’s shaky beginning with TSM

After Ruby struggled with League of Legends team Heretics, who finished eighth in the LEC Winter split and ninth in the Spring split, TSM fans were dubious about his signing. He has received criticism for showing up late to team fights and acting out of sync with the rest of the squad against Evil Geniuses and Dignitas, which can be attributed to his lack of scrim time with the lineup. Ruby’s Heretics coach, Peter Dun, has suggested that blaming the Korean for the team’s defeat to Evil Geniuses on June 28 would be unjust. Nevertheless, he has often argued that TSM was wrong to drop Insanity from the starting lineup. “Let’s be honest, there’s no way TSM should sub him Ruby in when Insanity (and TSM around him) are playing like this,” he said on Twitter.

Popular League streamer and former professional player Christian ‘IWillDominate’ Rivera pleaded with LCS teams to stop bringing in individuals like Ruby during a June 29 episode of “Facecheck.” It’s one of the things in the LCS that has recently triggered me the most, he added. “We need to avoid bringing in second-tier players in other areas. Additionally, I don’t believe the LEC currently outperforms the LCS by much. “Why would he suddenly come to NA and be good for you if he’s doing that poorly in a comparable region?” At 5 PT/8 ET, TSM’s final game of the week will pit them against 100 Thieves, who are also 3-5.
