Rampant Shadowbans Plague Warzone 2, Players Banned for Getting Too Many Kills
Players of Warzone 2 have been experiencing rampant shadowbans, with some even being banned for simply getting too many kills in a single match. This bug has caused frustration and outrage among the community, with many calling for a fix from developers Activision and Raven.
Community members begged for a remedy to the “ridiculous” shadow ban function on December 27. DougIsRaw, a Call of Duty streamer, attributed the issue to the new public report system’s poor performance and urged a repair.
However, the problem persisted, and on January 4 a shadowban shocked Nadeshot. Although it was overturned, his ban was merely the beginning because other community members have offered video proof of shadow bans that happen when a player accumulates too many kills.
Players have taken to social media to express their frustration with the situation, with many calling the game a “complete joke” due to the prevalence of shadowbans. It remains to be seen how or if the developers will address this issue in the future.
Players of Warzone 2 Who Obtained Too Many Kills Were Shadowbanned
According to Jake Lucky, who provided video evidence to support his claim, “there’s a bug in Warzone 2 where if you earn 10 kills, you get disconnected and shadowbanned.”
In the first video, a player claims they were shadowbanned after being disconnected from a match after accumulating 10 kills. The second video is Warzone 2 streamer IceManIsaac sharing his personal experience with being banned after scoring 10 kills.
Many more players responded to the tweets about the problem by claiming they too had been banned as a result, with one adding that “it’s a complete farce of a game at this point.”
Activision examines each shadowban to assess the user’s guilt. Nadeshot’s decision was swiftly overturned, but the duration of these restrictions is unclear.
Despite players like Nadeshot having their bans reversed, the issue persists and there is currently no clear timetable for how long these bans may last. The developers have yet to address the problem on their official Trello board for known issues in the game. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
