Pokemon Go players are encouraged to continue participating in the ongoing boycott against modifications to the Remote Raid system as the Togetic Community Day draws near. Players of Pokemon Go have organized a boycott in the hopes that the game’s creator, Niantic, will reconsider their decision to make modifications to the Remote Raid system.
On April 6, a new update was released for the function, which doubled the cost of Remote Raid passes and set a stringent daily restriction. In addition to the boycott, supporters started a petition on Change.org, which has since received more than 100,000 signatures. Niantic may suffer a significant setback on Saturday, April 15, if a sizeable portion of its player population does not participate in the Community Day event scheduled for that day.
The ban on playing Pokemon Go will remain in effect throughout Togetic Community Day
The Pokemon Go community has sent a reminder to players to maintain their position in line as Niantic issues reminders regarding this weekend’s Community Day. A member of the community named Shpluj posted a joke on Reddit that featured the aforementioned reminder, which encourages users to acquire a ticket for the Togetic Community Day. A screenshot of Old Man Steve Rogers’s line in Avengers: Endgame in which he says, “No, I don’t think I will,” was added to the meme by the user who created it on Reddit.
A significant number of more community members have joined in to indicate that they, too, would not take part in the activities scheduled for this weekend. “Miss playing the game, but I’m sticking to my Boycott,” someone who stated that this will mark the first time they’ve skipped a Community Day commented on their blog. One of the last posts in the discussion says, “I’m not buying it like normal because they don’t deserve it.”
Someone else also wrote, “Don’t fold, lads. If you do. I hope the ticket is enjoyable for you. There are a few further iterations of “Don’t fold, please” that may be found scattered throughout the thread. Niantic has a history of disregarding calls for it to be boycotted as well as petitions. However, it will be fascinating to watch if the boycott on Togetic Community Day kicks up enough dust to start a change for the situation with Pokemon Go’s Remote Raid.
