Overwatch 2 Season 5 Anticipation Plummets as Players Express Disappointment with Lack of Content

The fifth season of Overwatch 2 is about to begin, but the following content is something other than what players look forward to. Recently, Blizzard deleted many of the planned PvE content for Overwatch 2, including the promised Hero Missions. This decision caused the Overwatch 2 community to go into a frenzy.

Compared to the upcoming content for Season 6, which will include Story Mode, a new hero, a new core game mode, and other exciting additions, Season 5 is lackluster. Players have already written off Season 5 as a letdown, even though it will have a Sojourn cinematic, a few limited-time events, and the reintroduction of the “On Fire” gameplay mechanics.

Players of Overwatch criticize Season 5 for its lack of content

Reddit users began expressing their discontent with the content provided by S5. In a post published on the website, they warned Blizzard that it would be in for an “absolutely dog rough reception” from Overwatch players.

“No new map, an arcade mode, the return of the on-fire system, and a cinematic dropping centered on the game’s most boring character is a recipe for the most L season since OW2 launched,” one user said. “No new map, an arcade mode, the return of the on-fire system, and a cinematic dropping centered on the game’s most boring character.”

Others joined in with similar sentiments about Season 5, hoping it would be shorter, while others tried to find some things to get enthusiastic about. Others shared similar views about Season 4. Another player voiced their displeasure by saying, “I never believed Blizz when they said we’d get a hero every other season and a map the season after that.” My only legitimate wish for S5 is that they will make it possible to play Lifeweaver. If their plan is successful, it will be almost as if they have a new hero on their team,” one person suggested.

Another player joked about ways to increase the number of Battle Passes sold by stating, “Season 5 mythic skin will be barefoot Mercy.” As we approach closer to the debut, we’ll have to wait and see what Season 5 has in store for us, but for the time being, it’s very evident that players are still grieving from the disappointing PvE news and are eager to move on to Season 6.
