Mewtwo Takes the Spotlight: JP Transformed in Street Fighter 6 Mod
JP, the main character in Street Fighter 6, has been modified by a gamer to resemble Mewtwo, a legendary Pokemon. The release of Street Fighter 6, announced in February 2022, came exactly seven years after the previous iteration of this Capcom franchise. The series’ most recent installment contained returning characters like Ryu and Chun-Li and new fighters for players to try out.
New characters have been introduced to the base roster of Street Fighter 6, including Luke, Jamie, Kimberly, Marisa, Manon, Lily, and JP. In addition, players can construct their characters through the game’s in-depth character creation system, which can sometimes produce some unsettling outcomes. On the other hand, one Street Fighter 6 user pushed their creative abilities to an entirely new level by replacing JP’s model with a playable version of Mewtwo.
A modification for Street Fighter 6 makes JP look like a Pokemon
Tail__Lover on Twitter revealed their new Street Fighter 6 mod, which includes a playable Mewtwo. Mika had a model of Mewtwo from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the fighting game in place of the original JP character. In addition to this, they used JP’s backup suit and added Shadow Mewtwo to it. JP’s cane was also replaced with a spoon, which may reference the moment in the Pokemon Adventures manga where Mewtwo defends himself with a spoon.
Mika detailed the team’s aspirations to develop a “big-tailed skin” for every character in SF6. Despite the originality of the concept, there are acknowledged difficulties with the mod, such as hand rigging issues, clipping issues, and a need for facial animations. The instructions may be found on this page for those interested in downloading the mod. Mika mentioned how people had failed to give credit to them for the work after the mod was made available to the public. “I can’t help but feel just a little bit salty at the bare minimum effort put here to credit me,” they said. “I can’t help but feel just a little bit frustrated.”
The comment made by the Twitter user was addressed to a tape that had gained more than 10,000 likes despite not mentioning Mika. The original poster of the video responded to the criticism quickly by linking the website that explained how to download the Mewtwo mod and credited Mika for their efforts.
