Max “Demon1” Mazanov, the critical player for EG’s Valorant, shaved his head live during the VCT Americas broadcast after committing to do so after MIBR defeated 100 Thieves in the regular season to advance his team to the playoffs.
The regular season of VCT America is over, and the playoffs are now going on. Three NA teams, EG, 100 Thieves, and Sentinels, fiercely competed for the sixth berth in the post-season tournament. EG’s chances of making the playoffs depended on MIBR defeating 100 Thieves in the final game of the regular season. Demon1 made a joking wager on Twitter that MIBR will win the series and provide EG the last playoff slot, offering up his hair as collateral.
Amazingly, MIBR won the series despite not being considered a favorite, and players from EG’s Valorant team celebrated by securing a playoff spot. Demon1 also followed through on his pledge to shave his head of hair. The hosts decided to ensure Demon1 kept his word just before EG’s playoff game vs. NRG. The interviewer, Josh “Sideshow” Wilkinson. Also known as “egg” because of his bald head, can be seen shaving Demon1’s head as he speaks with him.

Demon1 elucidated the rationale behind his ridiculous gamble as Sideshow had his head shorn. He defended his wager by saying, “MIBR shouldn’t have won that match, I’m going to be honest.” He continued by going into more detail about MIBR’s disadvantages before their match. “100 Thieves were just the better team,” the player said. “For one, they were playing with a coach, and two, we played them like a week before.”
He stated of his wagering tweet, “I made that tweet for impressions,” to which Sideshow replied, “You got impressions, and you got baldness, you can get 2-in-1.”
Also, Sideshow posed the crucial question: Would the bald buff work? Demon 1 ended the interview by saying, “Oh, I hope it does, I hope it does,” as Sideshow did a terrible job shaving. Demon1 is at the top of the leaderboard and was awarded the series MVP, and the bald buff has worked out beautifully for Evil Geniuses as they defeated NRG 2-1 in an unexpected triumph.
