In an exclusive interview, Damon “Karma” Barlow, a CoD icon, said that he might not be ready to put down the joystick for good. Karma almost achieved everything an esports professional could hope for during their tenure. He was the first player to win three World Championships and was widely regarded as the GOAT of Call of Duty. He also played a significant role in the dynasties of CompLexity, Evil Geniuses, and OpTic Gaming.
Barlow briefly experienced the Call of Duty League during its initial season after a successful run in the Call of Duty World League (CWL). Before returning to OpTic as a full-time content provider, Karma played for Seattle Surge. Professional athletes still have an appetite for competition despite being away from the scene for more than a year and having previously reached the pinnacle. Karma continues to reflect on the stage’s dazzling lights.
Karma returns to Call of Duty with Ranked Play
Karma’s passion for Call of Duty was rekindled with Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play. To compete for a spot in the top 250, the competitive game mode together CDL professionals, retired players and coaches, and recreational gamers in one location.
We’ve seen ranked Play before, but Karma said this one’s evolution, point system, and top 250 all made it even sweeter. “I wish that kind of rated play existed now,” a player once said. Karma talked about his encounters with veteran CDL players and new professional athletes. The cool thing is that. I play with many individuals I used to know, but I also play with many new guys like Vikul and Hydra. He was amazed by Viukul and Hydra’s enthusiasm for playing with Karma, and he stressed how fantastic the experience was.
Karma suggests a future return of the CDL
Thanks to Scump’s watch parties, Karma started playing CoD through Ranked Play and enjoying competitive action once more. The legendary CoD player discussed how things have evolved and looked back on his career. “I think it was severe when I played, but it’s a little more serious now. You are competing for a critical prize, whether money or organizations. You are gone if you act foolishly. Everyone strives to be the best. If you fail, something terrible will likely happen.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen this one. I began playing in the first year, and there have been significant improvements since I started in 2019. It is in a great location. Lao, Gio, and Whiz were in need of an urgent sub, according to The Rotation, before the Challengers Texas Open got underway on March 10. Karma, who picked up Modern Warfare 2 through ranked Play, seriously considered entering the fray.
Karma responded, “I’ve never gotten out of bed so fast,” when a fan tagged him in the comments. He also made fun of not knowing where the Hardpoint locations were. “Playing in Challengers this weekend was something that a lot of people wanted me to do. I was close because I recognized the men and knew who they were; from what I had seen, they were a good squad. Simply put, I was curious if I wanted to follow through.
Karma ruled out a comeback this season but left the possibility of playing in Call of Duty 2024. I don’t think I would enjoy this game; however, I might give it a shot in a Treyarch iteration. I have yet to rule it out. Any competitive Call of Duty fan would enjoy seeing Karma perform on the main stage once more.
