Controversy Erupts as Nisqy’s Post-Game Attitude Sparks Backlash from Fans at MSI 2023

In the aftermath of a lopsided series against T1 at MSI 2023, Nisqy was spotted laughing it off. As a result, the player has become the target of harassment from the team’s supporters. It is common for teams from the LEC and LCS to lose to teams from the LCK and LPL at international competitions. Western teams have always had a difficult time competing against the greatest teams from the most vital areas, and MSI 2023 has been much the same.

Even though the MAD Lions were in control of the first game of the best-of-five series versus T1 for most of the 34-minute contest, they could not win it. From there, things only got worse, to the point where the MAD Lions lost a match in just 17 minutes, the second-fastest game in League of Legends international history. Yasin ‘Nisqy’ Dinçer was spotted celebrating the win rather than pouting, and he appeared to be coping with the disappointment of the lopsided defeat in his unique way. Because of this, he came under attack on Twitter from angry team supporters and some of Spain’s biggest co-streamers, prompting Nisqy to retaliate with a now-deleted tweet.

After the Lions’ 0-3 loss against T1 at MSI 2023, furious fans yell at Nisqy

Everyone’s overall series stats for MAD Lions versus T1 could be better. After a 0-3 series, it’s challenging to look good, but Nisqy has come under fire from many genuine European fans. Fans becoming upset when a team from their area loses a crucial match is nothing new. Still, things reached a boiling point when LVP broadcaster Jaime Mellado criticized Nisqy’s post-game attitude in contrast to Javier ‘Elyoya’ Batalla’s dejected expression on Twitter.

Nisqy’s handling of the loss drew criticism from several people, including Jaime. Ibai, one of the most popular Twitch broadcasters and a co-owner of KOI, was co-streaming the event when Shiro, a caller, disparaged Nisqy’s performance. Shiro, a streamer affiliated with KOI, said certain things that caused controversy of their own and led some fans to wonder who Riot officially grants co-streaming rights.

Nisqy was subjected to abuse, which caused him to tweet Jaime in response—a tweet that has since been deleted. Nisqy’s tweet was an insult to Jaime’s mother, to paraphrase.  The rival has subsequently explained his decision to delete his comment, stating that he doesn’t “want to create more problems.”

The coaches and players defend Nisqy’s response after losing to MSI in 2023

After the disappointing loss, many people flocked to Nisqy’s defense. Ju ‘Crownie’ Marui of Team BDS, who fell to MAD in a humiliating reverse sweep in the most recent LEC Finals, was the first to criticize Jaime’s remarks and support Nisqy. “The existence of such people genuinely makes me so angry—Twitter experts unaware of esports teams. Commentators tweet stuff for impressions but have little idea how groups or organizations operate. By the way, it enrages me greatly. I will permaban everyone who advises me not to get angry over it.

Crownie called in seasoned coach YamatoCannon, who concurred that Jaime’s remarks were inaccurate. He has no background and is just one frame of a person flashing his teeth. He doesn’t know Nisqy or the squad. The Twitter drama continues, with angry and passionate fans criticizing Nisqy. At the same time, seasoned athletes and coaches have offered their perspectives on why Nisqy’s positive attitude following the game isn’t worth making a big deal about. When Nisqy and G2 square off in the lower bracket at MSI 2023, Nisqy will have the chance to reenter the arena and demonstrate his talent.
