Rory ‘dephh’ Jackson’s Departure Confirmed: Sentinels’ Valorant Roster Altered for VCT Americas

According to Riot Games’ contract database, Rory ‘depth’ Jackson is no longer a member of Sentinels’ Valorant’s roster for the VCT Americas league. The British in-game leader’s status as a Sentinels player has been removed from the VCT global contract database, effectively confirming George Geddes’ initial assertion that he had left the group.

Tyson ‘TenZ‘ Ngo returned to the starting lineup for Sentinels with just two games remaining in the regular season after missing three weeks of activity due to illness and a finger injury. The North American group named its other five active players in a brief statement on Twitter but needed more Depth. To date, neither Sentinels nor Dephh has officially decided to separate ways. However, the player has taken the Sentinels banner off his Twitter page and the letters “SEN” off his name. Additionally, he no longer lists the team in his Twitter bio.

Since his announcement as the “final piece of the puzzle” for the 2023 VCT season in October 2022, Depth has been a member of Sentinels. He reconnected with his former XSET teammates Zachary “Zekken” Patrone and Donald “SyykoNT” Muir by signing a deal that runs through the end of 2024.

Dephh had a fruitful 2022 season with XSET, who participated in the Valorant Champions 2022 and VCT Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen. On the other hand, Sentinels struggled to duplicate it, finished 17th to 32nd in VCT LOCK//IN, and are all but eliminated from contention for a playoff slot in VCT Americas.

The VCT Americas league needs a backup

Sentinels are down to five active players after the departure of Depth from the team. Following his arrest for criminal trespassing two days prior, Sentinels opted to suspend the player awaiting the finish of training, according to a report from Dot Esports on March 6. Rob Moore, the CEO of the Sentinels, later stated that the team planned to “support [SicK] during this difficult moment” as it started the search for a new sixth player. Shortly after, Sentinels acquired Jimmy ‘Marved’ Nguyen, a former player for OpTic Gaming, who was a part of the team that placed second at Valorous Champions 2022.

SicK was detained earlier this week for the identical offense and released the following day. Due to his recent erratic social media and Twitch behavior, many community members, including former teammate Shahzeb ‘ShahZaM’ Khan, have expressed concern for SicK’s mental health. According to a prediction model developed by Sam Rosenberg, Sentinels have only a 7% chance of making the playoffs. They will play KRÜ Esports and FURIA in their final two games in the VCT Americas competition.
