Dave Filoni to Direct a Future Star Wars Film Featuring Qira
Dave Filoni, the executive producer of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, intends to direct a future Star Wars film featuring Qira from Solo: A Star Wars Story, played by Emilia Clarke.
Filoni was recently asked by Collider whether or not he’d produce the next Star Wars film and reveals he’d spoken with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy about making it. Filoni mentioned a desire to explore Qira’s backstory, says ‘There’s just something special about Qi’ra that I love so much.’
Childhood Companion
Qira is introduce as Han Solo’s childhood companion and later reveal to work for the Crimson Dawn criminal organization. Clarke received rave reviews for her performance from critics and fans, leading fans to speculate about a return in future Star Wars installments.
Multiple Star Wars Films in the Works with Acclaimed Directors
Filoni’s interest in Qira’s story marks yet another development within the Star Wars canon. Kennedy previously revealed “multiple” films underway with Taika Waititi and Patty Jenkins attached as directors for two. Several Star Wars-related TV shows stream on Disney+, such as The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch.
