Why Overwatch League Chooses YouTube Over Twitch: Caster Uber Reveals Alleged Reason

Caster for the Overwatch League Uber has revealed why OWL does not intend to broadcast on Twitch, alleging that the streaming site “doesn’t give a sh*t” about its users. From its inception in 2018 through its first two seasons, the Overwatch League was broadcast live on Twitch. On the other hand, beginning in 2020. Blizzard will be bound by a contract that makes YouTube the broadcaster of the Overwatch League and the COD League.

Blizzard has not acquired an exclusive deal to broadcast the Overwatch League on any available platforms. And the league’s sixth season is about to begin. Despite this, it will continue to be exclusively available on YouTube for broadcast. Many players and fans of Overwatch 2 were perplexed by this move. But caster Uber has addressed the situation and provided a plausible justification for why it was made.

Uber claims that Twitch does not care about its agreement with the Overwatch League

It has come to light that caster Uber wrote a post on Reddit in which he offered some insight as to why the Overwatch League is not interested in streaming on Twitch. Uber asserted in his Discord server that Twitch “don’t give a sh*t” about the Overwatch League. And that higher Twitch viewership doesn’t “mean sh*t” either. He also stated that increasing viewership on Twitch doesn’t “mean sh*t.”

Uber made the following statement in response to the assumption that the higher viewership on Twitch benefits the league. “People think the extra viewership on Twitch helps us, but it’s just optics at best, and Twitch doesn’t give a sh*t about actually partnering with OWL/CDL.” The increased viewership on Twitch benefits the league. The Uber representative stated, “Twitch offers nothing but a platform that old-school viewers prefer more as a hub, and that’s all. “I Couldn’t Give Less of a Sh*t About Twitch Because They Sure as Hell Don’t Care About Us, LMAO.”

Uber elaborated on his ideas about why Activision will not explain the decision during the stream by saying, “I don’t think at the highest level Activision Blizzard King is going to feel beholden to Overwatch League fans in explaining the dynamics of this business decision.”

They are not going to comment on this at all. You will see a visual that says, “Watch on YouTube Gaming,” and it will be literal. You are not going to be explained as to why; you will be informed that.”
