On Reddit, Pokemon Trading Card Game fans are alerting other users about “infuriating” counterfeit Charizard cards that con artists are trying to pass off as authentic. Even though the business has been riddled with fake cards ever since The Pokemon Trading Card Game was introduced in the 1990s, many imitations have been made available.
Charizard cards, which are among the most regularly replicated due to their high demand and worth, notably the Shadowless form of the card from the 1st Edition Base Set, are among the most commonly counterfeited cards. Following the discovery of a fake graded Charizard card being offered for sale online, TCG collectors on Reddit are also warning each other about “infuriating” fake Charizard cards.
Pokemon card collectors are warning each other about bogus graded cards
On July 21, a user named gloomy-trade-1792 posted a picture of a fake first-edition Charizard that they had discovered on a website for local sales. The image was shared on the Pokemon Trading Card Game subreddit. “This fake stuff is infuriating,” they reportedly stated. When con artists can get away with taking advantage of naive customers, it truly brings your blood boiling. Suppose anything seems too good to be true. In that case, you should always do your due diligence by conducting sufficient research, being cautious, taking the additional time you need to mull it through, and never rushing into anything.
Even the case on the phony PSA-graded card looks better than the one with the real thing, as seen in the comparison image. Fans with keen vision will immediately notice that the top paper that carries the card name and grade number needs to be cut correctly and that the quality of the plastic is different from the previous batch. Other people flocked to the comments section to express the same feeling and point out apparent problems with the card itself.
“The card that was inserted is a forgery. The left and right borders being too thin is the easiest way to know. But I’m willing to wager that the holo is printed on, and the pattern doesn’t alter at all regardless of the illumination,” one anonymous user stated. The notorious $3.5 million 1st Edition package that Logan Paul said to contain Pokemon cards but contained GI Joe trading cards is widely regarded as one of the most significant instances of counterfeit Pokemon cards.
