Overwatch players who play as Mercy but didn’t get the chance to acquire the particular Pink Mercy skin five years ago are asking Blizzard to bring it back on the game’s fifth anniversary. One skin in the history of Overwatch has been more desired than any other, and fans have been waiting for Blizzard to bring it back finally, but they have been unsuccessful.
In 2018, Overwatch and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation collaborated on introducing the Pink Mercy skin. This skin was an instant hit with players and helped generate more than $12.7 million for the cause. Fans are keeping their fingers crossed that this year will be different and have made their voices heard across various social media platforms, hoping the skin will finally make a comeback.
Fans of Overwatch 2 have been clamoring for Pink Mercy’s comeback for the past five years
Players voiced their desire for the limited-time skin to return in reaction to a tweet by the Overwatch Cavalry commemorating the skin’s fifth anniversary. The message discussed the milestone. “It’s such a shame that I don’t have the skin for it.” One of the players stated, “I don’t know why I was unable to participate, but I still hold out hope that it will return someday.”
“I had someone DM me and offered me $400 just cuz he wanted my account with this skin,” one player said, revealing that they were allowed to sell their account in exchange for a significant amount of money because they had the skin unlocked. Others expressed their opinion that even in the case that Pink Mercy does not return, OW2 should continue to host more charitable events in the future. A supporter wrote in their comment that they were “still hoping for a return of this skin line/idea.” “Take, for instance, the Trevor Project Pride skin. ANYTHING! Prostate cancer, mental health issues, anything!”
Fans may finally receive what they’ve been hoping for. In June 2022, Senior Character Artist Bryan Bedford stated that the group intends to “push hard” for charitable activities. With the Overwatch 2 Pride event coming up soon, let’s keep our fingers crossed that it will be a little while before we see something fresh for players to give to charity in exchange for a striking new aesthetic.
