Apeks Makes CS:GO History with 16-0 Victory over Grayhound at BLAST Paris Major

During their match against Grayhound, the Australian team Apeks established CS:GO history at the 2023 BLAST Paris Major by earning the third-ever 16-0 map win at an international major. This victory came during Apeks’ match against Grayhound. Even though Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Majors have had their fair number of one-sided stomps, a 16-0 victory is still an extremely uncommon event. Grayhound was defeated by the European team Apeks in the Challengers Stage of the twenty-third and final CS:GO Major, which took place in Paris in 2023 and was called the BLAST Paris Major. Apeks won the match 16-0.

Both teams agreed that Mirage would be the most excellent location for their second round of the tournament, making it a best-of-one contest. Apeks quickly assumed command of the fight and did not allow Grayhound to get a foothold in any of the rounds. Apeks was led to victory by Justinas ‘jL’ Lekavicius, who had a 23/4 Kills/Deaths ratio and a 2.01 HLTV rating during the match. After achieving this victory, Apeks is now in first place in the Challengers Stage rankings with a record of 2-0 and a round differential of +20.

At the conclusion of the CS:GO, Major, Apeks put up historical stats

Apeks are only the second team in the history of competitive CS:GO esports to win a map with a perfect score of 16-0. Astralis is the only other team to accomplish this feat more than once. The Danish squad was able to finish their dynasty run with a record of 16-0 in both 2018 and 2019, beating MIBR and Cloud9, respectively.

Three additional rounds will be played in the Challengers Stage of the BLAST Paris Major. Ultimately, only the top eight teams will advance to the next stage. Apeks have put themselves in a fantastic position to move on to the next level of competition due to their historically dominating victory. Grayhound, on the other hand, is still in contention to advance to the next round despite suffering a devastating defeat since the Australian squad managed to prevail over FORCE Esports in the first match they played. They currently hold a record of 1-1 and have a round difference of -14, which places them in the upper part of the standings.
