Players of Overwatch 2 made fun of Blizzard for their tardy announcement that they are attempting to address the Kiriko problem, which has plagued the game for almost three seasons. Like any live-service game, some characters, mechanics, and occasionally bugs get less attention than others and must patiently wait their turn to be changed or fixed. Overwatch 2 is presently in its fifth season.
Sometimes character and ability-related problems are too complicated for immediate hot fixing, and they take a long time to be fixed. Kiriko’s “Swift Step” is one such troublesome ability. It has so many issues that the community has called it “the most bugged ability in Overwatch 2.”
The teleport, which is supposed to transport you to a teammate you position your crosshair over, occasionally fails and leaves you in the exact location with no penalty, periodically sends you backward and puts you on cooldown, and sometimes clips you through the floor and causes you to die beneath the map instantly. There are so many videos and reports that it would be difficult to point out all the many ways players use Kirkiko’s primary mobility talent has gone awry.
Players of Overwatch 2 make fun of developers for announcing a bug fix
There have been multiple previous attempts to remedy the problem, so the Overwatch 2 development team is well aware of it. In an interview with Emongg, Jared Neuss, the executive producer of Overwatch 2, discussed the Kiriko glitch and said, “The tech being used is a shared technology with another hero. There are some issues with it.” “We tried some bug fixes, improving it, but it’s still a problem.”
Since we know this and are taking action to address it, the effort that must be made immediately is rewriting the teleport logic. When Jared’s remarks were posted by Overwatch Cavalry, a well-liked Overwatch-focused Twitter news account, several players replied by making fun of the development team.
One user commented, “FINALLY 3 seasons later, bro.” Another player commented that “there finally gonna fix a bug that’s been in the game for ten months.” Others are relieved that Kiriko is now getting the updates they have been waiting for. “Damn, at last! She’s one of the more entertaining supports for me to play, but I’ve avoided her because of issues,” another user in the discussion stated. The PVE missions, which gamers have eagerly awaited for seasons, are another piece of content that will soon be released alongside the Kiriko updates. However, playtesters reportedly slammed the PVE missions for Overwatch 2’s lack of replayability.
