Reports from an Overwatch 2 PvE playlist highlighted what Blizzard plans to give later this summer. However, several content developers have pointed out that the content cannot be replayed. As part of the Overwatch 2: Invasion event that will take place this coming summer, Blizzard plans to release new content and story missions throughout August. The first announcement of the release of Invasion was met with some criticism from the Overwatch community. As cited in the announcement, players expressed concern over the cost of new missions in the game.
To get them ready for the upcoming Invasion event, Blizzard invited some of the game’s creators to their headquarters so they could try out some of the forthcoming summer content. On the other hand, a few additional issues were raised by community members over the absence of replayable content.
Reports from the Overwatch 2 playtest reveal problems with the PvE mode
According to social media, several content developers for Overwatch 2 were invited to the headquarters of Blizzard to try out the game’s newly implemented PvE story mission mode for Season 6. There was some positive response from the people who make Overwatch, such as one of the creators remarking that the character voice lines are “great” and that the PvE session advances the game’s lore. On the other hand, the video game experience received relatively less favorable comments from players.
One was that there needed to be more time to explore the map, and another was the impression that the task needed to be more complex to warrant much difficulty. In addition to this, once a player has completed Legendary, there is “virtually no replayability” in the game. The community of players who play Overwatch 2 responded to that news in various ways. One person pointed out that given that Overwatch 2’s player-versus-player combat is the game’s central focus, this shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Others, on the other hand, have expressed concern that it cannot be repeated, particularly considering the cost of the PvE story missions.
A number of the creators that took part in the playtest have mentioned that they could provide feedback during sessions after the event with the developers. These sessions took place after the event. The test participants reported that the meeting had been “productive” and that the developers of Overwatch were responsive to the feedback provided.
