JGOD Calls for Action: Addressing Persistent Spam Reporting Issue in Warzone 2
Since the launch of Warzone 2, spam reporting has been a persistent problem that JGOD strongly encourages the creators of Call of Duty to fix. In both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, Activision has increased its measures to crack down on cheating. In the time leading up to the launch of both games, the creators of Ricochet’s anti-cheat system promised “more protection” and “new mitigation” strategies.
The Ricochet update that finally enabled the system to identify controllers utilizing an external device, such as a Cronus Zen, was released in April, delivering on the promises made. The update also included a few new mitigation strategies. And a replay investigation tool designed to aid investigations into instances of cheating. Nevertheless, only some new anti-cheating innovations were well received by the members of the community as a whole.
The reporting of spam in Warzone 2 comes under fire from JGOD
The programmers gave the players more control over the experience by incorporating a new in-game reporting system for disrespectful behavior. Regrettably, some community members took advantage of the new system by making baseless accusations of cheating.
Even though they had not technically cheated, players were given shadow bans on WZ2, and their accounts were frozen. The issue persisted throughout Modern Warfare 2. Making it impossible for Call of Duty League professionals to compete in Ranked Play. JGOD has had enough and publicly called out community members for incorrectly banning players on Warzone 2.
A WZ2 player claimed they had banned ten other players only to test the new reporting mechanism. They also claimed credit for reporting an opponent for no reason and successfully kicking them out of the battle royale sequel. JGOD responded: “Even though they never acknowledge it, spam reporting has remained a problem since Warzone 2 was released. This is common knowledge.” The YouTube user continued, saying, “Doesn’t mean you should actively abuse it ten times.” It is hoped that players attempting to climb the Skill Division won’t be negatively affected by shadow bans now that Warzone 2 Ranked Play has been introduced.
