After a recent content creator conference, Bungie has accused Destiny 2 streamer Ekuegan of leaking restricted information. In response, Ekuegan denied all of Bungie’s allegations and said they would clear their name in the matter.
The most recent Destiny 2 dispute has heated and perplexed the community. Following a content creator summit that occurred not too long ago, there were a number of leaks of confidential material published on social media and servers that run Discord. These leaks contained details about the next significant content drop occurring in Season of the Deep and essential system modifications that will soon be implemented into the video game.
Since then, Bungie has issued a statement addressing the leaks, in which they announce that because of the breach of trust, it is possible that they will no longer be able to host summits with the same level of confidentiality in the future. Since then, Destiny 2 content creator Ekuegan has revealed to Paul Tassi that Bungie accused them of being the source of the leaks in a chat between them. After that, the developer of Destiny kicked Ekuegan out of Destiny 2 and forbade them from working with the company in any capacity in the future. Despite this, the controversy is continuing strong, and the person who created the clip is now responding.
Streamer Ekuegan disputes Bungie leak charges
Since then, Ekuegan has responded to the claims, in which he categorically rejects the notion that he ever disclosed any of the material discussed during the conference. The streamer recently mentioned in a tweet that they believe Bungie has made “a huge mistake” and that they are presently working on clearing their name. The statement was made in reference to the fact that they are currently working on earning their identity.
Ekuegan elaborated on their previous tweet, detailing why they had temporarily left Destiny and responding to their critics who have been attacking them during this period. Many members of the Destiny 2 community have expressed their belief that the streamer was not the source of the information leak and have voiced their support for Ekuegan. The viewer then inquired whether or not Ekuegan would return to Destiny if their name were cleared, but the streamer merely provided a cryptic response of “We’ll see.”
Although Bungie has not yet publicly responded to Ekuegan’s rejection of the allegations, it is well known that the company takes severe action against individuals who break its policies. As of writing, Bungie had not decided whether or not to take legal action against the streamer. As new information becomes available, we will make sure to keep you up to date on this page.
