Bug in Black Ops 3 Zombies: MP5K or RK5 Controversy

Fans of Treyarch’s popular 2015 first-person shooter (FPS) Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 have flocked to social media to report an odd bug with a famous Zombies map. Their argument highlights the game’s incredible longevity, most recently demonstrated by the discovery of a new method to take out Acension’s Rocket in Black Ops 3 Zombies mode more than seven years after the game’s first release.

Due to the Call of Duty series’ propensity to deliver games that lose popularity shortly after their direct predecessors are released, Black Ops 3 was able to exceed expectations placed upon every annual release. Due in large part to its popular Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is still played frequently today, bucking the historical norm.

The recent fan conversation regarding a strange bug discovered in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 version of the Kino der Toten Zombies level shows that popularity comes with a lot of attention. Reddit user LiteralTP started the discussion by criticizing Treyarch’s choice to switch an early MP5K wall buy from the original 2010 Black Ops map with an RK5.

Controversy over RK5 and MP5K in Black Ops 3 Zombies

Although the MP5K is absent from Black Ops 3, some players feel that the presence of the RK5 pistol in the adjoining spawn chamber renders the MP5K redundant at best and utterly useless at worst. The Kuda, which is the functionally closest related to the MP5K featured in Black Ops 3, was often recommended as a solution by people who concurred with that complaint.

Nevertheless, not everyone shared that opinion; several gaming players contended that the inclusion of a fully automatic submachine gun so early would have rendered Kino der Toten too simple; they asserted that this was already the case in the map’s initial iteration. Similar-minded people also stated that a secondary RK5 wall buy was primarily designed to serve as an ammo replenishment site that aids in the opening rounds without giving players a mighty weapon so quickly.

Despite the lack of a clear winner, the argument is still being played and discussed today, highlighting the general conviction that Black Ops 3 provides the best Call of Duty Zombies mode experience in the franchise.

While the 2015 shooter is undoubtedly a classic, the franchise’s Zombies mode apex continues to cast a shadow over it. However, some fans are concerned that the first Zombies map in Call of Duty 2024 may play too similar to another iconic level from the Black Ops 3 Zombies mode.
