Apex Legends Pro HisWattson Announces Retirement from Competitive Play
Pro Apex Legends After three years of competitive participation, Jacob ‘HisWattson’ McMillin has declared retirement from the sport. HisWattson once proclaimed himself the best Apex Legends player in the world, and some of his accomplishments can certainly support that claim. He solo queued from Rookie to Predator without armor or advanced from Bronze to Masters without using tools.
Before the ALGS World Championship 2022 last year, the 21-year-old joined FURIA. He was dubbed the tournament’s MVP, and his team finished in second place, earning $300k. However, after three years of competition, the Apex pro has now declared his retirement from the esport.
HisWattson makes an esports announcement about leaving Apex Legends
The Apex pro announced his decision to retire from competitive play in a statement on July 15. He wrote, “Today I’ve decided to step down from Competitive Apex.” “I dropped to being crap from being miles ahead of the second-best player. I did everything I could to make the competition enjoyable, but even when we were winning, I wasn’t. “I’ve tried to approach it from every possible aspect, but I don’t believe it can make me happy. I’ve lost interest in it over time, which has caused my abilities to decline to the point where I’m no longer satisfied and simply want to return to what made me the happiest and best version of myself: spamming ranked like a degen and being a fool on stream.
HisWattson said that his colleagues’ recent tournament results or performances are not the cause of his retirement, admitting that he has wanted to “move on” from competitive Apex for some time but has been persuaded several times to keep playing. He remarked that this isn’t because we performed poorly or because I despise my squad. It’s impossible for me to remain ahead of everyone skill-wise when I’m not giving it all I’ve got. And I wanted to go on before Split 1 began and several times after, but I kept playing every time.
“It’s unfair that my teammates and everyone else who wants to see me succeed are counting on me to give my best while I cannot do so. I regret not cutting the power sooner since everyone at FURIA is fantastic. “I’m still going to stay with FURIA as a content creator,” he said. I want to thank everyone who helped me along the way and especially to Pandxrz, Xera, and Sealion for being excellent teammates.
