Grinding for coins in Overwatch 2 can be frustrating and time-consuming. Completing weekly challenges is one way to earn coins, but it’s not a reliable source of in-game currency. Even if you manage to meet all of the requirements, you’ll only earn 60 coins per week.
And with many skins costing 2,000 coins, it’s clear that Blizzard wants players to spend real money rather than earn coins in-game. But now, there’s an easier and faster way to earn coins if you have a Microsoft account. According to Overwatch 2 players, signing up for Microsoft Rewards allows you to earn points that can be converted into Overwatch coins. You can redeem your points for 200, 500, or 1,000 coins at a time.
One Reddit user reported earning 800 Overwatch coins over the past two weeks using this method. While many players are impressed by this method, others criticize the fact that the best way to get Overwatch loot is often to not play Overwatch.
Pros and Cons of Using Microsoft Rewards to Earn Overwatch Coins
This was also the case with the method of earning coins through World of Warcraft. Some players even found that they could earn more competitive points by not playing the game once they reached their desired rank, as playing more could result in a lower rank and fewer points.
While the Microsoft Rewards method does work, it’s worth noting that you’ll need to earn at least 1,800 points to get the smallest bundle of 200 Overwatch coins. Points are earned through completing quizzes, using Bing, looking up recipes, and other engagements with Microsoft products. These challenges typically only give you 10 points each, so it may take some time to earn enough points for coins.
Despite player complaints about monetization in Overwatch 2, Blizzard has made minimal changes to address these issues. It doesn’t seem that there will be any additional methods of earning coins in future updates. So, if you want to avoid spending real money in the game, you’ll need to complete two sets of challenges each week.
