In the wake of Sentinels CEO Rob Moore’s announcement that head coach Donald’ SyykoNT’ Muir would be leaving the organization, the former XSET coach turned to Twitter to reveal that he would be available for other coaching opportunities.
After it was revealed that he was leaving Sentinels, the former head coach of the team, Syyko, turned to Twitter to comment on the next phase of his career in the esports industry. The veteran of Valorant stated that he is searching for opportunities as a coach and general manager within esports, and he thanked his team and the staff at Sentinels.
“It was both a privilege and a delight to work with every one of you. I am sorry that I was not able to see this project through to its completion. I am sure that I have set a solid basis for the team to build upon and continue developing in the future. In addition to this, he stated that the club is “in great hands” due to the fact that the Sentinels have transferred the team analyst Drew ‘DrewSpark’ Spark-Whitworth into the role of assistant coach and elevated assistant coach Adam’ Kaplan Kaplan to the position that Kaplan once held.
A parting message from Syyko to the Sentinels
Many people were taken aback when they heard that Sentinels had severed their relationship with Syyko so close to the season’s midpoint in the VCT Americas. After the club was eliminated from the VCT LOCK//IN tournament in an early round, Syyko appealed to the fans for patience despite the fact that the team had a slow start in the league and currently sits towards the bottom of the standings with a record of 1-2.
Syyko was the head coach and general manager of XSET before he joined Sentinels. During his time as a member of the organization, he was responsible for the team’s participation in the Masters Copenhagen and the Valorant Champions 2022 tournaments.
During the offseason of the 2022–2023 season, Syyko was given the responsibility of rebuilding the Sentinels team when Valorant Esports transitioned to a league partnership format and added former XSET players Zachary ‘zekken’ Patrone and Rory’ dephh’ Jackson to the roster of the Sentinels. Additionally, he was successful in retaining Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo and acquired two players from the LOUD roster that won the Valorant Champions 2022 tournament.
