EVO 2023 Breaks Registration Records, Building Anticipation for the Biggest Fighting Game Event
Fighting game fever is spreading among fans after significant releases like Street Fighter 6. EVO 2023 has surpassed several all-time registration records, making it one of the most eagerly awaited events of the season. Every summer, Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the largest fighting game competition globally, known as EVO. Fans can anticipate intense rivalry amongst the top professionals in the industry, which will guarantee memorable moments that go down in the annals of fighting game history.
Competitors in fighting games hold the Evolution Championship Series in high regard, and this year’s event carries even greater significance. For many years, EVO has been the top tournament for fighting games. However, according to a press release on EVO’s official website on July 12, this year’s edition has received more registrations than ever.
As numerous games experience record registration numbers, EVO smashes records. skyrocket
This announcement claims EVO 2023 will “officially have the most bracket competitors ever at an EVO event.” 9,182 players have signed up for tournaments across all eight of EVO’s core games, including titles like Street Fighter 6, Guilty Gear – Strive, Tekken 7, and more. With a staggering 7,061 total entries, Street Fighter 6 attracts more than three-quarters of these registered gamers. With over 3,121 registered players, Street Fighter 6 would still have the most entries in the competition if you consider players that entered it as their sole event.
It’s important to note that EVO also serves as the season’s opening competition for the 2023 Capcom Pro Tour, which will draw competitors worldwide. With 2,481 registered players, Guilty Gear – Strive ranks second overall and has reached a “new franchise peak” at EVO. One thousand five hundred eighty gamers are now engaged in Tekken 7, a game that will soon be joined by Tekken 8 as the next franchise installment. The classic Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 game has 1,346 registrations and established a “new franchise peak” at EVO. After more than ten years after its first release in 2011, it’s evident that the community still loves this game a lot. Fighting game mania is undoubtedly at an all-time high right now. Fans have Mortal Kombat 1 and Tekken 8 to look forward to later this year or in early 2024 after the vast Street Fighter 6 release.
EVO 2023 will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 4–6. It’s impossible to predict what this year’s participants will experience, given EVO’s reputation as one of the top venues for significant announcements. Still, one thing is for sure: This is going to be a tournament to keep an eye on.
