Pokemon Unite’s Emergency Balancing Update: Addressing Mewtwo’s Overpowered Victory Rate

The development team behind Pokemon Unite has informed the players that an emergency update to the game’s balance is on the way. This is because Mewtwo has had an extremely high victory rate since it was added to the roster. On July 21, 2023, the multiplayer online battle arena game Pokemon Unite will celebrate its second anniversary and provide players with various goodies during the in-game celebrations.

Including Mewtwo in the game as a playable character is the most valuable prize. Mewtwo will ultimately come with two distinct licenses, the first of which will enable Mega Mewtwo X and the second of which will unlock Mega Mewtwo Y. This is an exciting development. Unfortunately, Generation 1’s Legendary Pokemon has lived up to its reputation, as the Pokemon Unite development team has revealed that it will send out an emergency balancing update because of Mewtwo’s high victory rate. This update will correct the imbalance caused by Mewtwo’s high win rate.

As a result of the addition of Mewtwo, Pokemon Unite will get an immediate balancing fix

The information was disseminated through the Twitter account for Pokemon UNITE, which posted the following update: “We have verified that Mewtwo, which was launched today, has a substantially greater victory rate than planned. At around 9 o’clock tonight (July 21), Pacific Time, an emergency balance adjustment will be implemented. We appreciate your patience.”

Mewtwo’s dominance over the competition implies that players of Pokemon Unite won’t have to wait too long for this adjustment to the game’s equilibrium to take effect, which is excellent news. Mewtwo was subjected to a nerf in the same vein when the Generation 8 Legendary dog, Zacian, was added to the game; however, Zacian’s nerf only occurred much later than Mewtwo’s.

In addition to having a difficulty ranking of “Novice” when used in battle, Mewtwo’s move set is just compelling, mainly once it has been through the Mega Evolution process. The strikes of Mega Mewtwo X even have an increased range, which means that it may swoop in and take out opponents who believe they are safe from it. It is to the credit of the development team that they were able to resolve these issues immediately. Many fans still remember the ‘pay-to-win’ controversy surrounding Pokemon Unite when it first came out, so this was a big deal. Still, when this article was written, it needed to be made clear which parts of Mewtwo’s kit would be subject to alterations.
