The Overwatch 2 development team highlighted a handful of the upcoming balancing adjustments in the forthcoming mid-season patch. These changes include reducing the power of Zenyatta’s Discord Orb and other modifications. Overwatch 2 is a continuously updated game part of a live service. Hence the game’s massive hero roster is subject to continual balancing changes. Even while some of these adjustments are made through hotfixes, most of the more significant balancing adjustments are made through season patches.
Considering that Season 5 began on June 12, 2023, the next mid-season upgrade to the game is getting close to being ready to roll out. The Overwatch 2 development team recently hinted in a blog post titled “Director’s Take” that the next round of Hero balancing modifications for the mid-season patch will feature changes to the characters Tobjorn and Symmetra, as well as a reduction in the power of Zenyatta’s Orb of Discord ability.
The developers of Overwatch 2 have hinted at an upcoming balance fix
The most recent changes to Heroes such as Cassidy, Mei, and Lifeweaver were covered at the beginning of the blog article, after which the focus shifted precipitously to what’s on the horizon. As stated in the post, the objective of the mid-season patch is to move power away from Torbjorn and Symmetra’s turrets and concentrate it “into the rest of their kit.” The development team intends to make both heroes more than their turrets, which is good news considering that both Heroes depend heavily on placing turrets to deliver damage.
However, the announcement that there will be a “slight adjustment” to decrease Zenyatta’s Disord Orb ability will likely be the most significant adjustment for many fans. Players of Overwatch have been petitioning Blizzard to reduce the power of Zenyatta’s Orb of Discord for the better part of the last few months, citing the fact that the ability is aggravating to face off against. Even if it does not appear that the development team intends to make Zen’s Discord Orb as weak as possible, it is evident that they are aware of the community’s frustration about the ability and are attempting to adjust it.
In addition, certain control adjustments will be made to Sojourn’s Railgun, and both Reinhardt and Orisa’s “frontline capability” will be increased. For now, fans will have to wait until the mid-season patch notes are released to obtain more information regarding the specifics of these planned improvements.
