Super Smash Bros. Fans Hope for a DLC Expansion like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Players of Super Smash Bros. are hopeful that a fresh bundle of DLC would give the platform combatant the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe treatment. On June 21, a new Nintendo Direct will be released, and even though it’s improbable, some Smash gamers are still hoping for additional DLC fighters even after Masahiro Sakurai, the series creator, has announced his semi-retirement.

In response to the revelation of the Nintendo Direct, Team Liquid legend and Melee pro-Hungrybox shared a picture of a potential Smash Ultimate Fighters Pass Volume 3. Hbox clarified that this was a joke and that he “wanted King Boo” to be a playable character, but it didn’t take long for other gamers to join in and voice a desire for more Smash DLC.

In light of the Nintendo Direct announcement, Smash players want more DLC

A few years ago, people mentioned that the new Mario Kart 8 DLC generated maintained optimism for Smash Ultimate in the comments and on other Twitter accounts.

One person said, “Smash Ultimate can get another Fighter’s Pass if Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can get a Booster Course Pass five years later.” “BELIEVE!” Another remarked, “Smash can get another Fighter’s Pass,” adding that the pass should start with Jonesy from Fortnite. “If the developers announced a Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe five years into its lifespan, they can announce another Fighter’s Pass for Smash.”

Many more expressed support for Crash Bandicoot, Master Chief, and another Sonic representative as they finally wished to see their favorite characters on the Smash lineup. Not everyone, though, shared that optimism. Many dismissed the idea that we may ever see more Smash combatants and that the only Smash reveal might be an amiibo of Sora. Strangely enough, Nintendo still remembers Smash. The organization recently revealed a unique NintendoVS Challenge Cup that will take place on June 25. Could this portend impending news?

Whatever the case, we can still hope for a potential Smash Ultimate Deluxe edition on a future Nintendo system with all the current DLC and more, even if a new fighter’s pass isn’t released.
