After criticizing the tournament and Saudi Arabia last year, famous Rainbow Six caster Jessica ‘JessGOAT’ Bolden has issued a statement on Twitter defending her presence at Gamers8. Amid the 2023 edition of Gamers8, which is presently in the country’s capital, Riyadh, and boasts a massive $45 million prize pool, JessGOAT has taken back her former condemnation of activities carried out in Saudi Arabia.
Her remarks follow criticism of other casters who worked at Gamers8 2022 that she made last year. She had first discussed working at the event with the planners. Still, she ultimately opted against it out of fear for her safety. Saudi Arabia is unquestionably one of the locations in your area (MENA) where you definitely shouldn’t organize a tournament, JessGOAT commented on a broadcast regarding the competition last year. “I find it so amusing that people would come up with justifications for it. Every single f***ing justification they can think of, and those who worked there would say things like, “I needed the opportunity.” Put the f*** down.
The R6 and Valorant analyst said she made the remarks more than a year ago out of fear on July 13, one week into Gamers8. In her statement, JessGOAT said she was in talks with the tournament’s organizers, ESL, about going to Gamers8 and representing women and the LGBT community there. She said, however, that she began to get “serious messages” and left the event in 2022 out of concern for her safety.
JessGOAT changes her mind about Gamers8
She clarified that ESL, now known as ESL FACEIT Group, contacted her again this year to request her assistance with social media and material related to Gamers8. After entering the nation, JessGOAT said that her worries had diminished because of the “amount of respect and professionalism that has been afforded to me.”
JessGOAT states, “I spoke with EFG and expressed deep shame for the emotional comments I made last year. I can only hope that this experience adds to my growth this year and is a lesson to never speak on high emotions, rather think it through and with kindness and respect,” she stated. At the 2022 Esports Awards, the Australian got the Esports Desk Analyst of the Year honor. She discussed her experience in esports and what inspires her to maintain setting new standards for the business in an exclusive conversation.
