They claim that “at the start of the event, eggs you are currently hatching are moved to this box and give you free slots to collect event eggs immediately.”
To stop people from exploiting the system, the box would only hold nine eggs and be taken away once all the eggs had hatched or the event was over. Trainers have been requesting a method to remove eggs from the inventory from Niantic for a while now. The community’s comments on this occasion are hoped to change things.
