Pokemon Go’s Riolu Hatch Day Event Criticized as ‘Unfriendly’ for Casual Players: Community Suggests Solutions

The Riolu Hatch Day event has been dubbed “very unfriendly” for casual players by Pokemon Go users, who have also begun to come up with solutions. Niantic revealed a Riolu Hatch Day event would be coming to Pokemon Go on July 22, 2023, and it would run from 2 PM to 5 PM local time. For those who may have missed the announcement, Riolu Hatch Day is a celebration of Riolu.

Sadly, because of the event’s lack of hatch distance reduction, short duration, and perks, community members were generally unenthusiastic about it. Due to some of the extensive preparation needed in the run-up to the event, participants have now dubbed the event “unfriendly” to more casual players, and they have begun to consider solutions.

The Riolu Hatch Day event worries Pokemon Go players

TheSilphRoad subreddit posted a thread with the headline, “Riolu Hatch Day (and egg events in general) feels very unfriendly for casual players.” The OP discussed the occasion and some issues in planning for it. They pointed out that it requires a lot of dedication to clear up Egg inventory space in advance, which may be challenging for players who aren’t “very mobile.” They also said that one family member had already hatched all nine of their eggs before the event began and has now stopped playing the game until the event is life out of concern that they may run out of inventory.

As one Pokemon player said, “The frustrating thing is that spending money doesn’t even completely fix this stupid problem.” Many fans agreed with him. It just makes the workarounds more adaptable and less time-consuming. And that’s without even mentioning how illogical freeing up egg slots is. The OP proposed Niantic use a brand-new, transient inventory mechanism for Hatch Day events dubbed the “event egg box” to solve this issue. They claim that “at the start of the event, eggs you are currently hatching are moved to this box and give you free slots to collect event eggs immediately.”

To stop people from exploiting the system, the box would only hold nine eggs and be taken away once all the eggs had hatched or the event was over. Trainers have been requesting a method to remove eggs from the inventory from Niantic for a while now. The community’s comments on this occasion are hoped to change things.
