Netflix to Develop Live-Action Pokemon Series Following Conclusion of Stranger Things

After the conclusion of Stranger Things, the live-action Pokemon program that Netflix is growing, is going to take the next step and commence pre-production.

Initial confirmation of the streaming service’s plans to adapt a live-action Pokemon series is expected in July 2021. Although there is currently a lack of information regarding the project, it will likely have a design aesthetic comparable to that of 2019’s Detective Pikachu. As for the confirmed cast and crew members, it has been revealed that Joe Henderson, who plays Lucifer, will serve as the show’s showrunner.

At the moment, a number of animated Pokemon shows may be seen streaming on Netflix. Pokemon Journeys and the Indigo League are two examples of this. Despite this, the streaming service will make another foray into the world of live-action anime adaptations with a project related to Pokemon that has yet to be named.

The live-action adaptation of Pokemon that will air on Netflix may involve Ash and Pikachu

On Twitter, self-proclaimed pop culture expert Kristian Harloff speculated that after the conclusion of Stranger Things, Netflix would move on to the pre-production stage of the production process. The Duffer Brothers had previously stated that Stranger Things’ fifth and final season would be the series’ last edition. The fifth season of the Netflix show is expected to premiere either before the end of 2023 or at some point in 2024.

In addition, Harloff suggested that the adventure that Ash and Pikachu had been on for the last 25 years had come to an end because of the streaming giant’s planned live-action adaption. As a result, Netflix will likely adapt some of the dynamic duo’s experiences. The first two seasons of the original Pokemon anime should be prioritized by Netflix, according to one user’s suggestion on Twitter.

Netflix has collaborated with Pokemon on another entertaining series in addition to the live-action movie that still needs to have a name. During the presentation for National Pokemon Day in 2023, Pokemon Concierge, a forthcoming stop-motion project, was shown off to the public. In reference to the partnership, Minyoung Kim, Vice President of Content for Netflix in Asia, described Pokemon Concierge as an “entirely new visual and storytelling experience featuring groundbreaking stop-motion animation set in the world of Pokémon.”

According to the little trailer released, Pokemon Concierge centers on the main character Haru and her Psyduck while staying at a Pokemon Resort. Haru and Psyduck have a number of encounters with different Pokemon and their trainers while they are at the resort. The release dates of both Pokemon Concierge and the Pokemon live-action series have yet to be determined as of the time this article was written.
