Horizon Forbidden West Pays Tribute to Late Lance Reddick with In-Game Memorial

The creators of Horizon Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games, just added a tribute to the late Lance Reddick, who was essential to the franchise. Players can now visit the memorial for the late actor in the video game. The second Horizon series game, Horizon: Forbidden West, received much praise upon release after expanding Aloy’s story into new settings and adding several avant-garde gameplay aspects. Key characters are back in Forbidden West, the eagerly awaited sequel to 2014’s Zero Dawn, and you can explore various biomes.

One such character essential to both games was Sylens, played by the late Lance Reddick in the John Wick franchise, and the Destiny computer games, among other things. Sylens, an archaeologist and the captain of the Sons of Prometheus and Eclipse in the Horizon series is frequently regarded as a deuteragonist. He joins Aloy in this endeavor because of his curiosity about the machines and the fate of the Old Ones. Fans of the Destiny, Horizon, and John Wick series paid tribute to the actor after his tragic death in March 2023. The makers of Horizon: Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games, have followed suit by putting a tribute to Lance’s legacy in the game. Here’s how to get to Horizon Forbidden West’s Lance monument.

A memorial is erected for the late Sylens actor Lance Reddick in Horizon Forbidden West

Guerrilla Games tweeted the image above to draw attention to the most recent monument they have placed on Horizon Forbidden West in honor of Lance Reddick. Despite being crucial to the main plot, Lance’s death raises the question of what will happen to Sylens in later games. Players can only view the memorial by installing the most recent Burning Shores downloadable content. After obtaining it, they must mount a Watering flying mount and ride to the location indicated on the map above.

Once there, gamers can witness a memorial with beautiful lights emanating from it and a blue, illuminated beacon bearing Lance’s name. This moved the players because a fan of Lance continued, “He was a towering presence in everything he did.” Another participant praised the memorial’s aesthetic appeal and how the background music adequately set the mood to remember the late actor.
