Elder Scrolls 6 Release Delayed: Phil Spencer’s Testimony Reveals Potential Five-Year Wait

The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, testified before the FTC and mentioned that the release of Elder Scrolls 6 could be delayed by at least five years. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was released by Bethesda Game Studios in 2011 to accolades from gamers all over the world. Fans and critics enjoy making light of the fact that the video game’s creators have re-released it multiple times since then.

The consistent rollout of new content for Skyrim has made it far more challenging for certain players to hold off until The Elder Scrolls 6. Because the developer’s most recent project, Starfield, has yet to be released to the public, it is evident that the amount of time between new Elder Scroll installments will continue to increase.

According to Phil Spencer, the release of Elder Scrolls 6 is still several years away

It was asked of Head of Xbox Phil Spencer to comment on which platforms Elder Scrolls 6 could potentially release on while he was testifying during the Microsoft vs. FTC proceedings.

Unsurprisingly, the Xbox lead could only provide a few specific details, especially considering that the game will be released later. According to a report by Stephen Totilo for Axios, Richard Spencer stated in front of the court, “It’s so far away, it’s hard to grasp what the platforms will even be… We’re discussing a game that won’t come out for at least five years.” In a subsequent tweet, Totilo pointed out that Spencer had stated that he needed to figure out which Microsoft-branded platform Elder Scrolls 6 would be released.

If Spencer’s prediction turns out to be correct, this indicates that the release of Elder Scrolls 6 will only occur 17 years after the first release of Skyrim for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Because of the significant gap in time between the two releases, Bethesda executive Todd Howard, who has been with the company for many years, has stated that the upcoming Elder Scrolls game may be the last project he works on for the franchise.
