Debate Ignites in Pokemon Go Community: Is Masterwork Research Challenging or Inaccessible?

Pokemon Go players argue whether the Masterwork Research is merely difficult or “inaccessible.” Niantic has started providing the #151 Masterwork Research for players to complete. This research was initially available at Pokemon Go Fest 2021. Trainers participating in the paid event can run into a Shiny Mew, but the challenges involved are not accessible.

As a result, some rural players have claimed Niantic is “bullying” them by requiring rare or foreign Pokemon to finish the Masterwork Research. Also, examples include Kangaskhan, Farfetch’d, and Mr. Mime, all of which are restricted to the availability of specific continents. On the other side, a few Pokemon Go trainers have hypothesized that the Masterwork Research is intended to be a “challenge.” However, many quickly claimed that the activities were not demanding but “inaccessible.”

Players of Pokemon Go have claimed. The “challenge” of the masterwork research lies in its execution

On the Pokemon Go subreddit, one person called out other users for complaining that the Masterwork Research was too challenging. “If it’s called Masterwork Research, they don’t want it to take a few days,” the OP said in their original post. “Also, Shiny Pokemon are supposed to be rare. Or, if heaven forbid, you don’t deserve the reward if you don’t want to complete the research.”

“I don’t believe anyone who plays this game with any seriousness is afraid of a good challenge. The undisclosed time-gating is the problem,” one player remarked. Also, the trainer continued by stating that they have “no problem” trekking 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) daily in search of a Pokemon. Regarding a particular species, “waiting for some random raid/research task/event” is considered “bad time-gating.”

Another user stated that the activity was easy because it could only be completed if the tasks were available. “While tedious in parts, the Jirachi research allowed all players to complete it no matter where they were in the world. All tasks were doable.”
