Debate Continues Among Overwatch 2 Players Over Ashe’s Abilities: Should the Flashbang Make a Comeback?

Players of Overwatch 2 are still debating Cassidy’s potency and usefulness months later, as well as whether Cassidy’s flashbang should make a return. Cassidy saw a massive update for Overwatch 2 from Overwatch creator Blizzard. The cowboy now has a magnetic grenade that can be trickier to control instead of a flashbang that could negate ultimates.

When Overwatch 2 was eventually released, players did not receive the alteration well, and the developers have not made further adjustments to his grenade. It’s been stated by several Overwatch 2 players that Cassidy’s skills need to alter. But whether or not that change should ultimately return him to his Overwatch 1 flashbang is still up for dispute.

Conflict with Cassidy is still present in Overwatch 2

This week, a popular post on Reddit went live and was about a cowboy by the name of Cassidy. User Relevant-Ninja604 stated that Blizzard needed to take Cassidy’s magnetic grenade away and give him back the flashbang. The topic of contention derives from the fact that opponents must “waddle around like a baby” to overcome Cassidy to defeat him because he lacks any movement abilities, despite the original poster’s claim that both are effectively the same thing.

Many athletes agreed with the idea in the video game. Although Cassidy is a slow-moving prey, it is very challenging to kill the Blackwatch outlaw due to its grenade and long range. Another commenter questioned why Cassidy, a cowboy, would even have a grenade in the first place. The person said to design a new ability and eliminate the grenade. How does a flashbang or magnetic grenade fit in with his character when he’s supposed to be a cowboy?

This is not the first time Overwatch 2 gamers have expressed dissatisfaction with Cassidy’s new arsenal. Overwatch gamers criticized Cassidy’s magnetic grenade in December 2022, stating that it is “not fun to play nor play against” and “powerful.” It is unclear whether Cassidy will experience any changes shortly in the live-service game.
