Overwatch 2 will have PvE content for the first time in the franchise. Players enjoy seeing what the developers can come up with, but the Starwatch event AI has deeply concerned fans. The eagerly anticipated Overwatch 2 PvE content has fans on the edge of their seats. Many people have long desired single-player content that featured their favorite Overwatch 2 heroes competing against AI. The anticipation builds as more information emerges about when PvE gaming will be available.
A roadmap in May is anticipated to lift the lid on PvE, and it has long been suggested that Overwatch’s mythology be fleshed out through cutscenes and storyline. However, the Starwatch incident has called into doubt the gameplay itself—a brand-new 4v4 event with a Star Wars theme. The “imbalanced” aspect of the mode has previously drawn criticism from players, but AI is now under scrutiny. Attacking players are assisted by an AI Doomfist partner, although this ally’s performance isn’t up to par.
Players of Overwatch 2 are worried about the planned PvE DLC
Doomfist has received much attention since the new Starwatch game mode was introduced. The persona is already being scrutinized because of alterations made to him recently. Players are now discussing his impact as an AI partner in Starwatch. A recent Overwatch 2 subreddit post is titled, “If Doomfis]’s AI in Starwatch is what we have to look forward to in PvE, I’m worried.”
The OP stated: “I’m concerned that PvE will be filled with AI much like him because Doomfists’s AI is so ridiculously awful in the new game mode. When others are above him, the guy strikes walls. Backs off the subject without explanation. He stands there, blocking in a corner, unaffected by any gunfire. Also, he never stops eating. He attempts resurrection but then goes away, returns, and walks out again—only a few examples.
Other comments were quick to join the conversation as well: “It was so bad I thought it was a real Doom player,” made fun of one player, and “OW2’s entire existence from launch to the present has me wondering if PvE is even worth the wait,” added another. However, some members of the community are less concerned and believe that Doomfist’s AI needs to be a better representation of what it will be like in PvE. A Reddit user wrote, “I imagine Doom fist is the hardest, if not one of the hardest heroes, to program good AI for, so they probably dropped him in this game mode to test it out.”
