Apex Legends Star Albralelie Contemplates Switching to Controller Due to Competitive Advantages

Mac ‘Albralelie’ Beckwith, a star of Apex Legends, thinks about switching from mouse and keyboard to controller at some point because there is ‘no incentive’ for anyone to do so in competitive play.  For years, gamers have argued about whether to use a controller or a mouse and keyboard to play games, but in recent months, the dispute over Apex Legends has become particularly heated.

Many top pros have moved to the controller because of its aim assist advantages, notably TSM’s ImperialHal, who won the Stage 1 playoffs and received MVP awards. Some detractors have compared the aim help to a “soft aimbot,” while controller gamers have decried how much of a movement advantage KB/M players enjoy.  Albralelie intends to finally transition to the controller because he thinks there is “no reason” to continue using the mouse and keyboard. There have been a few notable holdouts among well-known players, but Albralelie is one of them.

Albralelie intends to switch to the controller for Apex Legends at last

On his May 14 stream, the former longtime TSM professional, who now plays for the cordless LANimals team, discussed the possibility of joining the “dark side,” stating that it is now too complex for mouse and keyboard players.  Because it seems like everyone he fights is on ‘rolling, I’m always at a disadvantage whenever I peek into someone, so I just don’t see sense in staying on MNK, he stated. “I merely fail to see the point. In competition, motion doesn’t matter. Simply put, it is irrelevant.

Albralelie stated that he “should” make the transition if he concentrates on the competitive play as it is “more consistent,” but if he played outside of Apex, he would utilize a mouse and keyboard. He would “unlikely” compete in anything besides the video game, though.  He expressed a similar opinion on Twitter: “Can’t think of a reason as a competitor to stay on MnK. MnK is suitable for social play but for competition. It is superior if you can play roller. Likely to hang up the keys and switch during our two-month off-season.

Although it is still being determined whether there will be a further migration to the controller, for the time being, one of the last significant holdouts is leaving the mouse and keyboard.
