Apex Legends Players Declare Ranked System Broken as NRG Pro Sweetdreams Takes on No-Gun Challenge

The new Apex Legends season and Ranked system have only recently begun, but several elite players already believe it to be broken. NRG pro-Christopher “sweet dreams” Sexton set out to demonstrate this. Season 17’s revamped Ranked system gets rid of seasonal splits, replaces Ranked Points with Ladder Points, and uses a secret MMR for matchmaking.

Respawn also changed the match entry fee and the way scoring is calculated. Naturally, these modifications were done with the best of intentions in an effort to fix the system’s shortcomings. However, after less than twenty-four hours, top-ranked players still need to be convinced. Sweet, an NRG professional player, has reached Predator after completing a no-kills, no-damage challenge.

Predator rank without a weapon?

Sweet revealed he was organizing a no-gun challenge in Ranked to reach Predator eventually. The highest rank attainable after the new season premiered. He stated that I’m thinking about doing a no-weapons challenge with no hunting to demonstrate how flawed the system is.

Sure enough, he completed the challenge on stream in just one playing session.

Sweet’s suggestion to Respawn is to raise the admission cost to higher grades in order to address the issue. Every rank’s entry fees are the same in Season 17. Sweet had to conceal, or what is known as “ratting” during most matches, in order to complete the task. This meant that he finished in the top five in the remaining 50 of the games he played and even managed to win five of them. However, some emphasized the need to allow the new system more time to settle because Season 17 only began on May 9. One supporter said, “Let’s chill; it hasn’t even been 24 hours since the new system went live.”

Respawn must balance kills and assist scores with match placement in the battle royale mode because of this inherent difficulty. Should a player rank up higher than a player with one kill who finishes first if they achieve ten kills but are eliminated in the fifteenth position? The balance is still being discussed, but Sweet and other streamers believe it has to be improved.
