Annoyances Mount as Apex Legends Players Abandon Teams for Solo Survival

Players of all ranks in Apex Legends have seen their friends decide to split off and pick a “rat spot” from the beginning of the game, which has caused growing annoyance among the player base. Developing a ranked system for Apex Legends that benefits all players has been challenging. The players have resisted the developers’ efforts to alter the system and criteria for determining rank.

The Apex Legends pro sweet has already demonstrated how simple it is to take advantage of the existing setup by hitting Predator without killing anyone. To advance quickly in Apex Legends Season 17, it now appears that players of all ranks have drawn inspiration and are turning to find their own “rat spots” apart from their team.

Season 17 of Apex Legends is populated with “rats” who solo drop

Contrary to many other games in the Battle Royale genre. Also, Apex Legends mandates that queue-ranked players be grouped into three-player squads. No solo mode exists where users can try their luck at surviving alone. That hasn’t stopped some players from going off on their own, sitting in a corner (also known as a “rat spot”), and simply waiting out the circle to attempt and place as high as possible without engaging in combat.

This has always been possible in low-ranked lobbies, but the current ranked system’s balancing of the RP cost of queuing has only reduced the likelihood of players leaving their teams behind and ratting for RP gains. While some players, such as ImperialHal, have advised taking advantage of the chance to sharpen their mechanics and engage in early combat, others are abusing the system. Several players have shared their experiences with teammates choosing to drop alone and abandon their team after seeing a video of members in a high-ranked lobby following after a player who dropped solo.

Finally, one user quipped, “They ought to have called this season ‘the big rat hunt.'” Others questioned why a player would need to break off alone in such a public lobby. It’s absurd that players in high-level games, like your Master lobby, are leaving their squads! What is the purpose?
