TSM has announced that they are cutting ties with their Valorant team after they could not advance to America’s Ascension. The choice is the most recent illustration of the ambiguity that now permeates the tier-two scenario in the game. The North American organization thanked the players for their service before tweeting the choice. Although we failed to realize our shared Ascension goals, TSM noted that they were proud of each player’s effort while standing up for the black and white.
Early in June, the team’s season ended with losses against Moist Moguls and FaZe in the NA Challengers Split 2 Playoffs. Although the team’s future was uncertain for weeks, head coach Jacob ‘Daeda’ Hale and assistant coach Andrey ‘Engh’ Sholokhov were shown the exit door within days. Also, the release from TSM states that the company intends to return to Valorant in 2024 after the start of the new Ascension season. However, their choice to remove the roster in the middle of the season highlights how bad tier-two Valorant is right now.
The most recent organization to discontinue the Valorant team is TSM
Even though Leo Faria, Global Head of Valorant Esports at Riot Games, said on June 6 that information about the 2023 offseason would “come,” it is still unknown which third-party competitions will occur in the year’s last three months. Also, many gamers have pushed Riot to intervene and support the tier-two ecosystem out of concern that businesses would briefly stop playing the game to save many months’ worth of wages.
Corey ‘Corey’ Nigra, a player with TSM, was one of those players. He had cautioned on June 4 that “a six-month break is too long for dogs to want to stay.” The announcement from the TSM esports team comes only a day after G2 cut all saves of Shahzeb ‘ShahZaM’ Khan from their Challengers League team. After being demoted from the league, MAD Lions and Disguised also cut their rosters.
Former Valorant members of TSM:
