Members of the Overwatch 2 community have petitioned Blizzard to update and bring back some of the game’s most famous maps from the Assault game mode, which was eliminated in the transition from Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2.
Assault, commonly known as 2CP, was the game mode deleted from Overwatch 2 because it made the game much more challenging to balance. This was despite the fact that Assault is the home of some of the most iconic locations in Overwatch, such as Hanamura and the Horizon Lunar Colony. This meant that some of the player base’s favorite locations and themes were lost for good, and now gamers of Overwatch 2 are asking for them to be brought back into the video game with some modifications to make them fit for the game modes that are currently available.
Players of Overwatch 2 have requested that the 2CP map placements be modified
One player asked Blizzard to revamp some of the most beloved maps from Overwatch 1’s Assault mode in a post on the Overwatch 2 subreddit. The individual said the maps brought back nostalgic feelings for many of the player base. They requested that Blizzard redesign the older Assault maps so that they could be used in Overwatch 2. Hanamura, Anubis, Volskaya Industries, Horizon Lunar Colony, Paris (meh). It’s a tremendous shame that none of these breathtaking levels can be played anymore because they were all so well-designed.
“Transform them into hybrid, escort, or control maps, or even rework them into separate control maps. It would be interesting to see three distinct areas of the base on Horizon; one of these areas could even be located totally outside zero gravity. Many of the gamers of OW1 have fond memories of playing on these maps. I regret that they are no longer a part of Competitive.
The message was supported by a large number of players, including one who said, “Hanamura, Anubis, and Volskaya have so many memories for me. I never really shared the hatred that was first directed toward 2CP. Therefore, it’s safe to say that I miss them.
