EA Apologizes for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Performance Issues on PC

EA has extended an apology to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor users whose gameplay has been negatively impacted by persistent performance issues with PCs. The highly anticipated sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, was released on shelves for the first time on April 28 and was met with critics’ acclaim. In our review, we referred to the most recent Star Wars game to be released by Respawn Entertainment as “one of the best Star Wars games ever.”

During pre-release testing and evaluation, Jedi: Survivor suffered from glaring performance issues. On the PlayStation 5 in performance mode, we saw that the game dropped below 60 frames per second (FPS), took excessively long for textures to load in and that the lighting and shadows were inconsistent. The performance problems affected not only console gamers but also PC players, who gave the game a terrible rating on Steam as a result of the problems. After considering the feedback, EA decided to issue an apology.

EA fixes the performance issues plaguing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Due to the chaotic launch day, EA had no choice but to come clean and issue an apology to the players of Jedi: Survivor. “We are aware that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is not performing up to our standards for a percentage of our PC players, particularly those with high-end machines or certain specific configurations,” the statement reads.

The programmers noted that PC players who used chipsets built for Windows 11 and were running Windows 10 encountered problems and that high-end graphics processing units (GPUs) running on CPUs with lower performance faced frame loss issues. Players have been given the assurance by EA that the development team is “addressing these cases quickly.”

EA would not address the issue of refunds, which was brought up by a number of dissatisfied PC customers on Steam. Additionally, the company was unable to specify a timeline for when consumers may anticipate improvements  “We are committed to fixing these issues as soon as possible, but each patch requires significant testing to ensure we don’t introduce any new problems.” “We will continue to monitor performance across all platforms and share timing information for updates as soon as it is available.”  It is hoped that EA can implement changes before members of the community become more frustrated with the current condition of the game.
