Hanzo’s Headshot Advantages Cause Frustration Among Overwatch 2 Players

Players of Overwatch 2 believe that Hanzo is one of the “most insufferable heroes” due to the headshot advantages he possesses. When the first iteration of the Overwatch shooter was released in 2016, there were a total of 12 heroes on the roster. Hanzo was one of them. The character was, of course, brought back for the sequel, but Blizzard made some adjustments to their design before the game was released.

The most notable change is that the damage that Hanzo’s Storm Arrow can deal has been lowered, albeit only slightly. Despite this, players aim at and hit their opponents in the head. Some Overwatch players who do not play as Hanzo believe that the presence of the character on the opposing team makes the game less enjoyable than it usually would be.

A recent discussion on Reddit presented the following question: “Is it just me, or has Hanzo become one of the most insufferable heroes in the game?” User TheRealJefecito posed the question.

The Reddit user continued by saying that whenever they play against an opposing team whose main character is Hanzo, “the game’s fun dies off harder than if they have a Junkrat or even a Mei…” The problem is caused by Hanzo players who repeatedly fire their weapons, hoping to score a headshot.

The attitude of a number of other participants in the forum is consistent with that of the original poster. One of these participants wrote, “This is why I prefer dying to Widow. At least I know it’s talent, not “spamming vaguely aiming at head level.” Another user said in the forum, “I love getting one tapped, and then the kill cam is just Hanzo spamming a corner.” Because of the widespread spamming problem, some gamers have begun to refer to the character as “Spamzo.”

However, there are some Overwatch 2 players who are under the impression that hitting enemies in the head with Hanzo is more challenging than it may appear. A commenter on Reddit put it this way: “Maybe I just suck, but when I play Hanzo, I almost never get headshots, lol.” In spite of this, a significant number of Overwatch fans would rather compete in games where the bow-wielding warrior is forced to watch from the sidelines.
