Madden 24’s Controversial Throwing Animation Raises Concerns Among Players

Players are scared by the Madden 24 tossing animation. Football fans now got a preview of what Madden 24 will look like when it launches in August, thanks to the first teaser and closed beta. However, some people prefer to avoid a new feature in this year’s title. A throwing motion from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has some players worried about the future of Madden 24 on social media.

Players of Madden 24 are upset with the new animation

A TikTok video incorporating clips from the Madden 24 closed beta was reposted and gained much attention on the Madden subreddit. During a brief moment in this video, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes makes a “diving throw,” a maneuver he has previously used as a last-ditch, improvised pass. This throw is a new motion that was first teased in the Madden 24 reveal trailer, but this clip gives players a real glimpse of how it will appear in the game when it launches in August.

EA Sports has received negative feedback on social media in response to the new animation. One commenter called out that Mahomes’ move, a last-ditch pass, was made without any contact and that the quarterback dove “like he’s [W]hite Goodman,” a reference to Ben Stiller’s evil character from Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

Other individuals also voiced their concerns about the animation’s lack of authenticity. Mahomes didn’t brace himself or land on his side after the toss, according to a Madden player who brought this up. Another said, “Madden is now only targeting the Fortnite crowd. Not interested in creating a simulation game of the NFL. The closed beta for Madden 24 kicked out on June 8 and will provide a small group of gamers access to H2H Ranked, Superstar, and Madden Ultimate Team, among other modes. On August 18, the franchise’s most recent entry will be available.
