Tyler1 Controversially Disagrees with LCS Player Strike, Calls NACL Participants “Paycheck Thieves”

Many of the most prominent players in the scene have come out in favor of the LCS players, sparking debate in the League of Legends community. Tyler1 disagrees, claiming that NACL participants were “paycheck thieves” and that the teams weren’t worth the effort. Since the LCS Players Association approved a vote for a player strike, LCS fans have been anxiously awaiting news on the league’s future.

Tyler1 doesn’t believe that the NACL is worth the impending LCS walkout, even though the majority of content producers and community leaders have generally supported the players’ resistance to the sudden NACL modifications. Tyler1 asserts that “there is no NA talent” and that even LCS-ready players are never allowed to start afresh. According to him, several players who played for the Academy (now NACL) were “paycheck stealers” who took money from organizations.

According to Tyler1, “NA talent hasn’t been around for years”

Tyler1’s main objection to LCS clubs having to field NACL lineups is that they’ll never make money or develop fresh talent from the system.

If we’re being honest, NA talent hasn’t existed for years; why are we only now becoming upset about it? Tyler1 defended Riot’s and the teams’ owners’ choice. I suppose we’ll stop losing money now because we lack NA talent. Although he knows the community’s support for preserving the teams, he categorically disagrees. People say, ‘Oh, we need the teams to have NA talent.’ There is no skill in NA! In any case, nobody was getting promoted.

The League streamer continued by saying that no one watched the NACL matches and that professionals with poor splits could travel to NACL and receive payment for playing there as a “safety blanket.” Additionally, Tyler1 asserted that many players signed by a Challengers team felt they had “made it” and stopped working hard once they had a position. He believes that many players who haven’t made it to the LCS display “no passion” in their play.

Finally, he agreed with the decision made by all ten teams, noting that by persuading Riot to remove the obligation to field an NACL roster, teams have probably “saved themselves millions.” Even though Tyler1 holds a different viewpoint from the majority of the League of Legends community, he provided numerous arguments for why he believes Riot and the team owners may have made the right choice, even though many others do not.
