Players of Pokemon Go have had to learn the hard way that there is only a tiny possibility that they will receive passes to the Remote Raid if they complete Research Breakthroughs to earn rewards. Users of Pokemon Go who have purchased Remote Raid passes can participate in nearby Raids without having to visit the event place physically. Players with these passes can also participate in global Raid Battles if they are invited to do so by another Trainer.
It should come as no surprise that those people who play the famous mobile game on a regular basis have a high demand for these things. Niantic also upped the starting price of Remote Raid passes not too long ago. Previously, one pass to a Remote Raid could be purchased for 100 PokeCoins; however, starting on April 6, this cost has been increased to 195 PokeCoins. Some people had thought that the increase in possible rewards for accomplishing Research Breakthroughs would more than makeup for the price increase; however, this was not the case.
Some Pokemon Go players were dissatisfied with the Research Breakthrough incentives
Uunikana, a user on Reddit, posted a meme criticizing Niantic for what is alleged to be a lie regarding the fact that Research Breakthroughs award incentives in the form of passes to Remote Raids. In order to demonstrate their point, the Reddit user reworked the popular meme based on Tyler, the Creator’s “So That Was a F***ing Lie” phrase.
However, a number of other people who play Pokemon Go have pointed out that there has been some misunderstanding. Niantic never promised that completing a Research Breakthrough in Pokemon Go would immediately award players with passes to a Remote Raid. In reaction to the previous post, one user commented, “They never told us it was guaranteed,” and then added, “A 1% chance to get a raid pass is still a chance lol.” Another person provided the following explanation: “[It’s] not guaranteed. New potential awards have now been added to the pot.
This confusion has emerged following the Pokemon Go user strike that was staged in response to the previously mentioned increase in the cost of a Remote Raid pass. We are holding out hope that the game’s developer, Niantic, would backtrack on their decision to make these adjustments. As of this writing, there has been no such reversal.
