LCS Fans Debate the Impact of Dash’s Departure from LCS Broadcast on Reddit

LCS fans have taken to Reddit to analyze the improvements, or lack thereof, in the LCS broadcast after James ‘Dash’ Patterson stepped down from his role as the long-time desk presenter.

On January 26, the League Championship Series (LCS) began broadcasting its matches for the first week of the 2023 Spring Split. This was the first LCS broadcast after the departure of Dash as the league’s former desk presenter. Riot Games explained that they chose not to invite Dash back for the 2023 season as a host since they were moving away from a traditional sports desk format for the broadcast.

But those that follow the LCS and tune in to the new broadcast saw little difference between the two. Joshua “Jatt” Leesman hosted the latest analyst program, which excluded Dash, while performing double duty as the host. To accommodate his role, he featured couches instead of a desk.

The broadcast format of the LCS has mostly stayed the same despite the absence of Dash

A post on the subreddit dedicated to League of Legends stated that “LCS broadcast ain’t that different.” “The structure is, for the most part, the same. With an analyst desk portion (now a couch, lol), but Jatt is just doing the hosting.”

Additionally, Riot’s initial statement regarding its decision to remove Dash from the LCS broadcast was called into question by both the post and the responses to it.

“The answer that Riot provided does not, in my opinion, reflect reality. The post suggested that Dash may still fit without much difficulty.

Since leaving the LCS full-time, Dash has collaborated with FlyQuest to produce content for the beginning of the season, participated in LCS co-streaming, launched an LCS-centered podcast, and secured a hosting role in Valorant.

Riot has also stated that the formerly employed desk host would continue to make appearances during the League Championship Series broadcast, albeit in various forms of content for the show.

The first week of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) show did have some new parts to occupy time between games. Content producer ‘QTCinderella’ guest starred on the broadcast in a cookery section as well as a role as an interviewer.
